ABOUT

Tokunaga_Masonry.jpg

In 1901,

Mr. Tokunaga founded a masonry company that specialized in commercial rock walls. The company consisted of Mr. Tokunaga and his two sons. Over the years the company grew, both in size and scope and after 106 years and two generations of leadership, the Tokunaga family sold the company to Ron Prescott in 2007.

Tokunaga Masonry is now TM Construction Hawaii. We are creating a new identity that aligns with our current capabilities: specializing in concrete restoration and rehabilitation, structural reinforcement with fiber reinforced polymers and joint sealant in airfield runways. With nearly 120 years in the Hawaii construction market, the values of integrity, professionalism and perseverance remain the same. Our President, Ron Prescott, leads a team of innovative professionals who plan, design and oversee the construction of structures with safety and efficiency, respecting the environment.

We are a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business working primarily on government bid projects and are proud of our contributions to significant buildings, facilities and venues across the state. We have experience in design-build projects, new construction and federal and public works projects. Today, we employ engineers and project managers overseeing a union workforce with dozens of commercial, heavy infrastructure, and public works projects, including new construction, additions and renovations, and rehabilitation.

TM Construction Hawaii is headquartered on Oahu and has worked on every island in Hawaii.

Ron Prescott served 20 years in the Army where he was sent to Germany, Vietnam, Korea and Australia, with Hawaii was his last duty station. He has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Denver and a Master of Business Management from the University of Central Michigan.  Since leaving the Army, Ron has gained over 30 years of experience in construction management. Starting as a Project Manager with Sandwich Islands Construction, he subsequently worked with A. C. Kobayashi Construction as a Senior Project Engineer on the Hilton Hawaiian Village Master Plan Project.

Haas Insulation hired him as the general manager and he subsequently bought the company.  Eventually he hired another general manager and sold the company in 2005. Meanwhile, he became a partner in two construction management companies and ran a roofing company for year to help out a family after the unexpected death of the owner. Ron purchased Tokunaga Masonry in 2007 from the family that founded it. Ron focused on building a specialization in concrete rehabilitation, specialized concrete mixtures and fiber reinforced concrete structures.

Rebranding the company as TM Construction Hawaii to reflect current work, today the company employs a combination of engineers, project managers, foremen and field workers.

Ron is a voracious reader, especially U.S. history, biographies and books on leadership. He is avid about fitness and has completed the Honolulu Marathon, several Waikiki Rough Water Swims and two Ironman Triathlons. He also enjoys hiking, hunting and fishing.
